A series of custom-made computer programs have been written to accompany the Theoretical Learning mathematics program in Portland. These programs are written in Java and are intended to run on the Mac OS X or Windows platforms.
GRADE 1:
The first three programs used in Grade 1 (Color and Shape, Choose, and Arrows) are available for downloading below. These programs will run "out of the box" on Mac OS X.
NOTE! To use these programs on Windows, you first have to download and install a version of Sun Microsystem's Java software, which is available as a free download.
Color and Shape is
the easiest program, and begins to
develop the children's ability to work
with properties of objects.

GRADE 2:
The six programs for practice in addition and subtraction up to 20 are available for downloading below. These programs will run "out of the box" on Mac OS X.

Add and Subtract 1 is the easiest program, and is for practicing adding and subtracting by 1, 2, and 3:

The other programs (Add and Subtract 2 through Add and Subtract 6) gradually increase in difficulty until all additions and subtractions up to 20 are covered. Add and Subtract 1 is used in Grade 1 and the rest of the programs are introduced in Grade 2.
